If you would like to join us for a Sunday service, here are some brief notes to make your visit easy. Our Wardens and Welcome Team are in the Church foyer from 10:15 am every Sunday to greet everyone. Please introduce yourself so that we can say hello and welcome you in person.
Q: Where is St Stephen’s?
A: St Stephen’s Church is situated on the fork of Lansdown Road and Richmond Road on the northern slopes of Bath. Access to the St Stephen’s Church Centre (under the church) is via Lansdown Road. The postcode to use for SatNavs and maps is BA1 5SX.
Q: When is the Sunday service, and what sort of service is it?
A: 10:45 am Holy Communion followed by a convivial drink and chat at noon.
Q: What type of worship do you offer:
A: Our service is largely traditional but with a strong musical emphasis. Choral Communion is offered every 2nd and 4th Sunday.
Q: Do you welcome children and young people?
A: Absolutely! Our fun ‘Hangout’ sessions for children and young people are offered every week during the Sunday service. Within the main body of the church we have a space full of children’s books, toys and craft items. There’s more during the week too, with a Youth Group that meets during term-time.
Q: Can I park at the church?
A: Street parking (free for 4 hours) can usually be found on either Lansdown Road or Richmond Road.
Q: Can I use public transport?
A: The 31/Lansdown Park and Ride bus stop is immediately outside church [Link to FirstBus timetable included].
Q: Can I cycle or use an e-scooter?
A: It’s a challenging ride up but a fun journey down! There are usually scooters for hire and e-bikes parked by the bus stop outside church, for more information on these visit Travel West.
Q: Is the church accessible?
A: We have an accessible entrance either via a path from Lansdown Road or Richmond Road leading to a side door in the church's main entrance lobby. We have an accessible toilet currently only accessible from the external Church Centre entrance.
Q: How long will it take to walk up from town?
A: It takes about 25 minutes depending on the length of your strides! Lansdown Road is the most direct route; add an additional 10 minutes to enjoy the scenic paths via the Assembly Rooms, St James’s Square and Lansdown Crescent, or Hedgemead Park.
