THE BIG GREEN DAY: MAY DAY AT ST STEPHEN'S

The Big Green Day at St Stephen's on May Day was an amazing success!  Read below our Rector Philip's words, in his email alert to us all, which capture vividly the atmosphere of the occasion:

"Well what a day it was! Many, many folk from our community both took part and came along to the first Big Green Day. There were around 40 stalls all around the church, and within it, displays, things to buy, things to make, things to win.

"there really was so much....."

"there really was so much....."

There were activities (see left), games, demonstrations, helpful advice, information, charities ... and inside the church building children's art, photography and a steady flow of music from ukeleles, organ and saxophone. And upstairs, tours of the bell tower, and a chance to dong a bell - and downstairs ... well, have you ever seen such cakes, and teas, and all sorts - and the raffle (in case you're interested, no prizes ended up back at the Rectory!

"A real joy and delight"

Philip's words continued:

"Far too many things to mention specifically, and far too many people sorting, serving, stallholding to thank individually - but I will try, nevertheless. Aided by a huge team of folk, Di, Bob and Christian were at the hub of organising and facilitating. They gave the necessary energy to make it all happen, and happen so well. And we thank them very much!

A wonderful gathering and celebration of community.

It wasn't intended as a fund-raiser, but it did, over £800.

A wonderful gathering and celebration of community. Sorry (Philip says ) if I've missed anything, but there really was so much. It was a real joy and delight!"
