mothers' union cathedral prayers on thursday 19th Nov.

mothers' union cathedral prayers on thursday 19th Nov.

Dear MU friends,

This week, instead of our usual Wednesday mid-day prayers, I'm sending you the prayers which will be used  on Thursday 19th Nov as Cathedral prayers, which have mainly been prepared by Bath Deanery members including Elizabeth, Sue, Joan, Audrey and I, together with Madeline, our Diocesan President.

We had hoped to record some of these prayers in a church in Bath, but the current lockdown has meant that we will look forward to that happening next year (in Dec) when it will be the turn of Bath Deanery again.

The service was held at 11.30a.m. on Thursday 19th November please view it on Youtube on the link below and join with us in spirit.

Blessings, Pam

Mother's Union News

Activism against gender-based  violence

16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence is an international campaign. It takes place each year from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) until 10 December (International Human Rights Day).

Throughout the campaign, we join with others globally to raise awareness of, and call for an end to, gender-based violence in all forms and in all societies.

On Thursday 19th November, this prayer below will be prayed as part of Bath Deanery MU's midday prayers, which will be online at 11.30a.m. to 12noon.   (See link in Green Tab below)

Compassionate God, may those experiencing all forms of violence be given courage, hope and the means to break free from their abuse

Lord Let us not turn from the world, but be engaged within it, Where there is injustice may we find ways to eradicate it. Where people’s human rights are so exploited that they have no life to call their own – let us fight for equality and dignity. May our politics be based upon Gospel values, our motives be to serve our God alone, and through our God, to transform this world

Lord we give thanks that Mothers’ Union is involved in consultation with the UN Commission for the Status of Women (CSW). Righteous God we pray for all initiatives to share your love through speaking out for the helpless and campaigning for social justice. Righteous God, we pray for success in our campaigns for equality and justice for all. Help us play our part in creating a just and peaceful society for your people on earth. Amen

Gardening News - Award of RHS Certificate of Recognition 2020

This is the email received by Bob from the RHS, recognising the efforts of his team of Constant Gardeners:

"This year an amazing sense of community spirit has enabled people to face the difficulties of this dreadful pandemic together. Through Bloom, It's Your Neighbourhood, and other community gardening activities you have laid the strong foundations that helped make your communities more resilient in these testing times.

We know that people have felt closer to nature through lockdown and valued access to green space so much more, and we have heard that people are valuing your work more than ever before.

At the RHS and the Bloom Regions and Nations we have been incredibly moved by your stories of courage, creativity and ingenuity in helping your wider communities through this time.

Even those groups who have not been able to carry out activities this year are still an important part of a wider movement to make all our communities stronger, greener and happier.

We want to recognise how important you all are and how valuable your work is with certificates in 2020.

We hope that 2021 will be kinder to us all, and we look forward to working alongside you all in the year ahead.

With best wishes,

Kay Clark
RHS Community Development Manager
