Church News: Harvest Festival October 6th 2019

On October 6th we celebrated our Harvest Festival. The Church was beautifully decorated throughout and members of the congration brought offerings of fruit and vegetables. The produce was taken to various charities after the service.  Some of our Harvest offerings were taken to Action Pantry who offer to those in need of food support - over 30 families - fresh and preserved foods.

  • ​​​​​​​Our Rector Philip's Sabbatical

Philip is having a sabbatical for three months from 16th September till 15th December. Pray for him and Lizzie, Annie and Ted. And for Debbie who steps wonderfully into the breach during this time.. ​​​​​​​

  • Could you help us? 

- Cleaning St Stephen’s on Saturday mornings during the coffee morning and Pop-In - sign up in the foyer. Thanks.

- Mothers and Toddlers need a leader, and helpers to set up and to prepare snacks. More info from Debbie or Sue Russell

- St Stephen’s Gardens need some new gardeners to supplement the team. Monthly Saturday garden mornings. More information from Debbie or Bob Carlton Porter  Forthcoming dates are October 26th & November 23rd.  Hundreds of bluebell bulb will be planted on Saturday 26th October so do come along and help out from 10:00 - 12:00 am, with a tea/coffee/cake break at 11:00 am.

Judging took place in July through the work of Bath in Bloom (BinB), for which we gained s Silver Award, and South West in Bloom (SWinB)  The results for SWinB will be available in October and will be posted on this website.  Many congratulations to Bob, Di and all the team for all their hard work.

  • Turkish Meanderings

  • Lansdown Friendship Club

This is taking place at St Stephen's Centre on the first Friday every month 2:00 – 3.30 pm, and is especially suited for anyone experiencing memory difficulties. All welcome with an accompanying family, friend or carer. NEXT MEETING IS ON FRIDAY 1st November 2:00 - 3:30 pm.  See poster on link below the News Section entitled Lansdown Friendship Club.

  • Popcorn

Popcorn is St Stephen’s new monthly film night for young people of secondary school age. Meeting on the first Sunday of the month 6.30-9:00 pm St Stephen's Church foyer. Bring a snack to share. email for more information


  • Foundation Governor vacancies at St Stephens Church School, Lansdown:

These vacancies are for an immediate start. One of these roles will be a replacement of the current Chair.

  • Prayer is the foundation of being church. St Stephen’s Mondays 8.45am, Saturday 9.30-10am. St Mary’s 8.10am and 9am Tuesdays, and meditation 7.00 pm Wednesdays.

  • Climate Change

B&NES council has declared a climate emergency and has voted to make our city carbon neutral by 2030. We will pray how our churches can support this.  

  • Chaplaincies

Please pray for the chaplaincy of Debbie at Send-a-Cow.

Please pray for the two members of this church who are training to be priests.

  • Jane Hoe  

Jane has begun her ordination training; she is undertaking a three year non-residential course at Sarum College. We pray for her and Brent, Molly and Ellen. 

  • Tim May

Tim May is beginning his second year of ordination training at Durham with his wife Beth.

  • Community Houses of Prayer

These groups meet once a month on a Tuesday at 19:45.  Meetings take place within the various Bath communities to pray for Bath and the area represented.  The event is organised by Bath Christian Action Network andmore information is available on    Click on preceding web link for more information.
