We have a very strict children’s policy at Saint Stephen’s: we love them. Our lovely children are the treasures of St Stephen’s.

Currently Treasure Groups meet on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month, the children start in the service and then go out to age-appropriate groups, usually returning in time for family communion. On 4th and 5th Sundays children remain in the service with the rest of the church family and can make use of our lovely pew boxes full of activities for them to do. We sometime have a short activity available during the sermon on these days.

Little Gems

Our youngest Treasures and their parents have a cosy space in the foyer to meet with a treasure leader to sing, dance, play, enjoy stories and get to know each other.

This special space is available every Sunday for parents and their young children, when there is also the opportunity to hear the sermon through the speaker.

We recognise that pre-schoolers are in transition between the two main treasure groups (Little Gems and School Jewels) and they are welcome in the treasure group where they feel most comfortable.

School Jewels

Our sparkly older Treasures gather together in a lovely big space in the church centre, where they enjoy meeting up with their treasure friends while their parents’ stay in the main service. Two members of our Treasure team lead fun and thoughtful activities based on material put together by the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

From year four the children are ready to move up to our Young People’s group Feast. Please refer to that section on the website for more details.

We have a strong team of dedicated Treasures leaders and helpers who delight in seeing the children enjoying the fellowship of church and living life to the full. The Treasures team looks forward to welcoming you and your children to Saint Stephen’s.

All those who work with children are fully DBS (CRB) checked.
